The short version
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell personal information. Business listings are compiled from publicly available sources. If a listing concerns you and you want it corrected or taken down,tell us and we will action it.
Information we collect from visitors
You can browse this site without giving us anything. We do not require registration and we do not use tracking that follows you to other websites.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data — IP address, approximate location, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to keep the site running and to detect abuse.
- Aggregate usage. We use Umami to count page views and understand which areas of the directory are useful. Umami is cookieless, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. It records the page visited, the referring site, and coarse details such as browser, device type and country. These counts are not tied to an identifiable person.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us or submit a correction request, we keep what you send so we can respond and record the change.
Cookies
This site does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our analytics provider, Umami, is cookieless by design. Any cookies present are strictly necessary for delivering the page. We do not operate a consent banner because we do not run the kind of tracking that requires one.
Location
The site does not request your device location. Choosing a city from the directory is a plain link; nothing about your position is transmitted to us or stored.
Where business listing information comes from
Listings describe businesses, not private individuals. Information is compiled from public sources: a business’s own website, its public Google Business listing, and public professional registries. Where a person is named, it is because that business publishes the name itself in a professional capacity.
- Ratings shown are attributed to their source and are not generated by us.
- Details taken from a business’s own website are labelled as that business’s claims, with the date retrieved. We do not verify them unless we say we have.
- We do not publish email addresses gathered during research, and we do not invent services, prices, credentials or quotations.
Corrections and removal
If you represent a listed business you can have your listing corrected, completed or removed entirely. Removal carries no conditions. SeeIs this your company? or write toprivacy@therighthomeinspector.comfrom an address at your business domain.
If you are an individual and believe personal information about you appears here, write to the same address and we will remove it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to complain to a data protection authority. In Canada that authority is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Requests go to the contact address above and we aim to respond within thirty days.
Service providers
The site is served through a content delivery network, which processes requests on our behalf in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
Page-view analytics are provided by Umami(umami.is/privacy), which receives the request data described above. Form submissions are delivered by email through Mailtrap, which processes the message so we can reply to you.
We do not share visitor information with advertisers or data brokers.
Children
This site is intended for adults arranging property inspections and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will change with it.
