Mary says:
Whatever you do, DO NOT use Pillar to Post!! I found a nice home in Lake Orion, and by looking at it and reading the description, it seemed like a good, solid home. I put in an offer and relied on the home inspectors to point out any problems with the property that I was unable to see or unqualified to identify. I was told that because my loan was an FHA loan, the inspection would be more stringent. There were a few things in the inspection that were remediated, but I was told by the inspector that it was a great property overall. I made my new house a home, and in the summer of 2018, I found out that I was going to be a grandma for the first time X2. My twin daughters were both pregnant and would be giving birth before the end of the year. Even though I had only been in the home 1 year, I decided to sell and move to a condo so that I could use all my spare time with my new granddaughters. When I listed the home, I quickly got a new offer and the home inspection was scheduled. I remember thinking that nothing would be found, because I had just had one done a year prior and I was told the home was in such good shape. I returned home from my Labor Day family vacation to the beginning of a horrible nightmare. I was told that the house had serious foundation issues, which was later confirmed by another inspector. As time went on, I would find out that there was a long list of electrical issues, and shockingly the radon test showed high levels of radon in the home – over twice the allowed limits. (I had ordered a Radon test when I had my inspection, and was never notified of any problems.) I assumed that the inspection company would right their wrongs, or at least their insurance company would. I was very wrong. They have not done anything to help with the issues and have only given me the run around at every turn. I have had to pay 15k+ in remediation fees to prepare the house for sale. Pillar to Post Home Inspection Company, not only was grossly negligent in the work they performed on the original inspection, but they immorally have run from taking any responsibility for the negligence. All I can say, is I am thankful that I did find out at least about the radon when I did. If I had stayed in the home with the radon at those levels, who knows what could have happened.
